Missions
The mission is to ensure that:
• International roaming works correctly for all Vodafone Vanuatu customers being abroad, in the scope of all available services like voice, SMS, mobile data, etc.
• International roaming works correctly for all foreigners visiting Vanuatu and being attached to Vodafone Vanuatu network, in the scope of all available services like voice, sms, mobile data, etc.
• International SMS service works correctly on end-to-end bidirectional path
• Core network elements work correctly in regard to all available services like voice, SMS, mobile data, etc.
Job Description
Activities:
• All activities related to opening new roaming agreements that mainly consists of:
Coordination with Vodafone Vanuatu commercial and roaming partners
Configuration of core network elements to enable international roaming (inbound and outbound)
Run overall roaming tests (voice, sms, data, 2G, 3G, 4G, Camel, etc.)
Troubleshooting in case of problems
Write documents and fill in the appropriate templates
Coordination with Billing Team to ensure proper billing mechanism related to roaming
• All activities related to opening new international sms (direct and via hub) directions covering: configuration, tests, troubleshooting, coordination with Vodafone Vanuatu commercial and international partners and carriers
• Periodical tests related to already existing roaming relations as well as international sms directions
• Participation and support of ongoing core network activities related to operation and maintenance, monitoring, supervision, troubleshooting, etc.
• Periodical health checks for all relevant systems
• Participate in new projects related to roaming and core network
• Participation in resolving of customer complaints
• Reporting to direct superior about any ongoing activities and their progress
• Reporting to direct superior the health status of supervised systems, defined KPIs and other required statistics
• Design of new services in core network elements along with implementation and testing
• Operation and maintenance of core network elements
• Troubleshooting in case of network failures or customer complaints
• Monitoring, supervision and periodical health check of core relevant systems
• Support for VAS and Billing activities especially those related to Core
• Generating of network statistics and dashboards
• Call out duty in 24/7 mode
• Other activities defined by the direct superior in order to fulfil all position’s requirements and to address current needs
Desired Skills and Experience
Competences:
1. Knowledge
• Diploma in Telecommunication
• Very good knowledge related to roaming and international SMS
• Strong knowledge of international communication and technical process, linked to the roaming business
• Very good knowledge of mobile networks especially their Core part (CS and PS). Good understanding of VAS domain
• Very good knowledge of SS7 signalling protocols like MTP, SCCP, TCAP, MAP, ISUP, SIP, Sigtran
• Good understanding of TCP/IP networks
• Good knowledge of Wireshark protocol monitoring tool. Experience with other monitoring tool desired
2. Skills
• Ability to have excellent relationship with external partners and operators
• Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
• Strong analytical skills
• Ability to fast learning
• Ability to work on a transversal way, understanding all the needs of the different entities
• Ability to work under time pressure
• Fluent English and Bislama, French will be an advantage
